Diplomatic relations between India and Austria completed 50 years in 1999, Indian Embassy is Austria further strengthen the relations between the two countries. It is estimated that over 15,000 Indians most of them from Kerala living in Austria. Indian Embassy in Austria is also promoting the tourism industry. Austria offers lot of tourist destinations with plenty of winter sports in the Alps, and the Sound of Music, Mozart and chocolate, the Spanish Riding School and the Vienna Boys' Choir, skiing and yet more snowy alps. Austria has been at crossroads of travel routes is land locked and sharing borders with 8 countries: Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The main Austrian cities are Vienna, Graz, Salzburg and Innsbruck. Austria has 18 universities. The University of Vienna was founded in 1365. The capital Vienna is home to many great classical music composers – Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss family as also several thinkers and philosophers. Vienna the international city hosts several multilateral organizations including OSCE, IAEA, UNIDO, UNODC, OPEC etc. and has thus become a pivotal point for international diplomacy.
