The relations between Indian Embassy in Lefkosia, Cyprus and Embassy of Cyprus in India have been traditionally very close and friendly since the time Jawaharlal Nehru when India had rendered support to the freedom struggle of Cyprus against the British Colonialism. Jawaharlal Nehru had strongly supported the cause of safeguarding the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Cyprus. The relations between Cyprus and India further enhanced when the avenue on which the House of Representatives is located was named after Jawaharlal Nehru during the visit of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1983 and the road on which the High Commission premises are located is also named after Indira Gandhi. Embassy of India is situated in such a country which is an island of beauty and a country of contrasts with cool, pine-clad mountain, sun-kissed beaches; tranquil, timeless villages; luxurious beachside hotels and many more.
