Relations between Indian Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria and Nigerian Embassy in India are cordial and friendly marked by multi-religious, multi-lingual, multi-ethnic, mutual respect and understanding with a vibrant media and civic society. India and Nigeria both members of the United Nations, the Commonwealth, the G-77 and NAM are united in the desire to work towards democratic pluralism, tolerance, economic development and social justice. Both Embassy of India and Embassy of Nigeria have manifested in various meetings at UN, WTO, etc. common perspectives on international political, social and developmental issues. In 2007, Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh made the first bilateral visit after the Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1962 to elevate their relationship for future intensive and extensive cooperation. The Embassy of India and the Embassy of Nigeria are promoting the tourism and culture of their countries respectively.
