The name Manipur means “A jeweled land” is a paradise on earth where Mother Nature has bestowed her bounty in the form of exotic scenery, mystic atmosphere, wildlife, lush green etc. located in the corner of North East India with Imphal as its capital city. Its because of extraordinary beauty of Manipur the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru paid a fitting tribute by describing it as “Jewel of India” and Lord Irwin described as the “Switzerland of India” which is surrounded by blue hills with an oval shaped valley at the centre, rich in art and tradition, landscape with gently undulating hills, emerald green valleys, blue lakes and dense forests and surcharged with nature’s pristine glory.

Some important fairs and festivals are the Raas Leela, Gang-Ngai, Lui-Ngai-Ni, Yaoshang, Rath Jatra to list up only a few.
