Taj Mahal Travel Guide

Taj Mahal Travel GuideTaj Mahal means “Jewel of the Palace” known by various name as “the epitome of love”, “symbol of eternal love” and “a monument of immeasurable beauty” has been described as “designed by giants and finished by jewelers” became one of the seven wonders of the world! Taj Mahal, the symbol of India Travel is situated on the west bank of Yamuna River in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh which is 204 km from the capital of India, Delhi. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan constructed this mesmerized monument in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal with whom he fell in love at the first sight.

That is why Sir Edwin Arnold observed this wonderful World Heritage as Taj Mahal is “Not a piece of architecture, as other buildings are, but a proud passion of an emperor’s love wrought in living stones.” It is an “elegy in marble” or some say an expression of a “dream” exquisitely portrayed in marble. Taj Mahal architecture is a kind of fusion of Persian, Central Asian and Islamic architecture. Maintaining the confluence of these three architectures the entire Taj complex consists of five major constituents, namely the main gate or Darwaza, the gardens or Bageecha, the mosque or Masjid, the rest house or Naqqar Khana, and the main mausoleum Rauza. The real Taj Mahal consists of the mausoleum that is situated approximately 900 feet away from the main entrance. Standing at the opposite end of the magnificent Taj gardens, it rises to a height of almost 200 feet. At the lowest level of the Taj is a red sandstone platform that was built to level the land. Above that is the marble podium that serves as the base of the mausoleum.

On the corners of the marble platform are four minarets that are almost 138 ft high and capped with eight windowed cupolas. The purity of the white marble, the exquisite ornamentation, precious gemstones used and its picturesque location, all make Taj Mahal travel gain a place amongst the most popular ones. The beauty of this Travel India Monument comes up as outstanding whenever you visit, whether it is early morning or afternoon or evening. The time of dawn presents Taj Mahal in delicate shades of pink, while the setting sun washes it with orange color. However, the beauty of the Taj India reaches its peak during the moon lit nights, especially on a full moon night. Bathed in silver light of the moon, it seems just like a dream that has just come true!
