Itinerary The Wellness Yoga Trip

Day 01 - Arrival Delhi

Arrive Delhi, meet and assist at the airport and transfer to hotel.

Night stay in Delhi.

Day 02 - Delhi – Agra (By road approx 4 hours)

0830 hrs: After breakfast gear up for your visit of Old & New Delhi.

Old Delhi - A sightseeing tour of Old Delhi would entail visiting the Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi is one of the most visited sites in Delhi. It consists of a simple square black-marble platform that stands on the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. Visit Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India.

Chandni Chowk - A place that has a history of about 400 years. More evidences of the ancient times that once existed in old Delhi can be found out by winding through the labyrinthine lanes of Chandni Chowk in a rickshaw. The pleasure associated with the Rickshaw Ride here is ultimate. The rickshaw rides give the passengers an opportunity to see a different prospective of Chandni Chowk, which is otherwise only regarded as one of the favorite shopping avenues of Delhi.

1100 hrs: New Delhi - An extensive sightseeing tour of New Delhi would include a visit to the Qutub Minar, a drive along the ceremonial avenue - Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate - was built by Edwin Lutyens to pay homage to the Indian soldiers who died in the World War I and the Afgan War. Closely looking at the walls of India Gate would let you know the names of 90,000 soldiers who died during the World War I, the Afgan War and the North-West Frontier operations. The structure was finally completed in the year 1931. India Gate was originally called the All India War Memorial. Laxmi Narayan Temple also known as Birla Temple - one of the landmarks in the nation’s capital New Delhi. It was built in the 20th century by the Birla family of industrialists known for its many other temples in India. It is modern in concept and construction. It attracts several devotees and international tourists. The presiding deity here is Lakshmi Narayan (Vishnu), Parliament House (outside), the President's Residence and would end with a drive through the Diplomatic Enclave.

1400 hrs: After lunch at local restaurant in Delhi, you will depart by road to Agra. Upon arrival check in at hotel.

Optional: Explore the Agra’s rich heritage of handicrafts in its markets.

Day 03 - Agra – Delhi (by road approx 4 hours)

0515 hrs: Early morning you will enjoy a visit of the magnificent Taj Mahal by sunrise - one of the seven wonders of the world surely the most extravagant expression of love ever created. 20,000 men laboured for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife. Also visit the Red Fort - the rusty and majestic red sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the River Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-i-am (hall of public audience), a colonnaded hall of red-sandstone with a throne alcove of inlaid marble at the back, the emperor heard public petitions. At the Diwan-e-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the emperor sat on his gem-studded peacock throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. Later come back to hotel for delicious breakfast.

1000 hrs: After breakfast, visit Agra fort - the rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded Peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms.
Note: Taj Mahal remain closed on Friday.

Lunch at local restaurant in Agra. Afternoon you will depart by road to Delhi. Upon arrival you will check in at hotel.

Night stay in Delhi.

Day 4 - Delhi - Rishikesh (By road approx 6 hours) via Haridwar

0630 hrs: You will get your packed breakfast and drive to Rishikesh. Upon arrival you will check in at hotel.

Rest of the day is free to relax at hotel.

Lord Vishnu was pleased by his act and appeared to the sage as a "Hrishikesh." The word is combination of two words Hrishik and esh. Hrishik means senses and esh means god or master. It means god of senses. The Sthala Purana states as follows: "Raibhya Rishi preferred the sacredness and beauty of the place where Lord Vishnu appeared, so he remained there in the form of intense plants, which look like his matted locks.

In consideration of this and the divine qualities of Raibhya Rishi, the area recognized as Rishi Kesha or Rishikesh, or the hair of the Rishi (Sage). Skanda Purana mention that the Lord Vishnu blessed Raibhya Rishi and gave him this divine message: "while you have performed supreme Tapasya (austerities) by controlling your senses, let the place be recognized as Hrishikesha (Lord Hrishikesha, master of all senses).

1330 hrs: Delicious & healthy Lunch at hotel in Haridwar.

1430 hrs: Visit local market in Haridwar. Situated between Har-ki-Pauri and Upper Road, Moti Bazaar is the main market in the holy city of Haridwar. This market is famous for woollen garments and religious items. Among the religious items available here are prayer bells, brass idols of Hindu deities, Rudraksha or sacred beads, precious stone (for prosperity), vermillion and Gangajal (water of holy Ganges) stored in a container. There are a number of shops selling ayurvedic medicines and rare herbs. It is also famous for the delicious Choley Bhature, Jalebis, Rasgullas and a host of other Indian delicacies.

1730 hrs: Visit Aarti Ceremony at Har-Ki-Paudi Haridwar. Ganga Aarti is a religious prayer that takes place at the bank of the sacred river Ganga at the Har Ki Pauri Ghat in Haridwar. Har Ki Pauri is one of the most famous places to take holy dip in the river Ganga. Ganga Aarti in actual sense means prayer of River Ganga. Aarti according to Hindu mythology is an ancient Hindu ritual offered to Gods, spiritual leaders, holy things or to the guests.

1830 hrs: Continue drive to Rishikesh. Upon arrival you will check in at hotel.

2000 hrs: Delicious & healthy Dinner at hotel in Rishikesh.

Night stay in Rishikesh.

Day 5 - Rishikesh

0530 hrs: Attend ‘The Healing Process’ or ‘Yoga Science’ you will learn 7 Chakras, 5 Yamas & 5 Niyamas of YOGA along with ‘Magical Meditation Session’ at hotel. We include meditation under the umbrella of yoga as it’s one of the 8 limbs of yoga, Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Smadhi (Restraints or moral disciplines, Observances, Posture, Breathing Techniques, Sense withdrawal, Focused Concentration, Meditative absorption and Entitlement.

The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with their environment, practice of yoga makes the body strong and flexible, it also improves the functioning of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and hormonal systems. Yoga brings about emotional stability and clarity of mind. The practice of Yoga, the ultimate air is one of the self-development and self-realization. Meditation is a very important part of life. It is the way to calm the mind and emotions. Through meditation we come to know our self it is the way to one’s self.

1030 hrs: Visit Sivananda Ashram and attend the speech by Swami Ji who will explain the history of Hinduism.

The Sivananda Ashram is the spiritual expression of the divine mission of its founder, Swami Sivananda. This place of selfless service, contemplation and ego-annihilation, is a perfect atmosphere that can carry aspirants to their goal of God-realisation. Swami Chidanandaji once said in response to a request of an Ashram resident to go elsewhere to do sadhana, "Yes, there may be many other places more suited for good spiritual practice.

The Ashram is dedicated to the service of all and is itself benefited by the generous donations of the devotees who want to see that service continue. It is in the Ashram that any person interested in the spiritual life, whether a member of the DLS or not, can come and be nurtured by the spirit that pervades this place. The ashram offers a myriad of activities for serious seekers of all levels and backgrounds on the path of the truth to strengthen their sadhana and further their spiritual progress.

1230 hrs: Back to hotel and relax.

1330 hrs: Delicious & healthy Lunch at hotel.

1430 hrs: Visit the Holy Temples in Rishikesh and local bazaar.

Rishikesh has spectacular view of jungle-clad hills also confluence of River Ganges and Chandrabhaga. The glorious attraction of Rishikesh is none other than the great river Ganges herself, running rapidly throughout the city. In the ancient time and still so many yogis, rishis, sages and sannyasis attracted to practice yoga in this peaceful location since then, Rishikesh has known as an abode of sages. It is a holy town with so many Ashrams and it is famous for the yoga worldwide.

Rishikesh is now world famous as a Yoga Capital of the world. Every year during the March month one week long International yoga festival is hosted by Rishikesh. It is also known as gateway to the Char Dham is four popular holy temples on the hills (Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri) Thousands of people attracted every year to Rishikesh for spiritual relief, peace, learn yoga, adventure and to take a dip for salvation. Apart from spirituality now Rishikesh is also hub for the adventure activities such as rafting, camping, trekking and bungee jumping. There are also big ashrams, centres for Yoga, Meditation, Ayurvedic Massage and astrology are here.

1700 hrs: Evening attend Aarti Ceremony at Triveni Ghat Rishikesh.

The Ganga Aarti is one of the most beautiful experiences in India. The Ganga Aarti is performed on the banks of River Ganga. The spiritual ceremony happens every evening in different cities of India, after the sun sets, be it rain, hail, or shine! The most popular aarti ceremonies are held in cities of Varanasi, Haridwar and Rishikesh. It is an event one must attend once in their lifetime. The spiritually uplifting ceremony is performed daily to honour the River Goddess Ganga. Every day, as dusk descends on the Earth, the Ghats of the River Ganga witnesses a spectacular ceremony. Hundreds of diyas, mantras, aroma of incense, flowers, and musical instruments create an ambiance of divine bliss.

The aarti ritual is of high religious significance. Fire is used as an offering to the river. Aarti is a Hindu religious ritual of worship, a part of puja. This ceremony includes fire, songs sung in praise of the worshiped, flowers, incense, music, etc. The purpose of aarti is to show humility and gratitude to God’s divine form. Lit lamps and flowers are floated down the river. Brass lamps are lit and circled clockwise by the saffron clad pandits (Hindu priests), accompanied by chanting or songs in praise of Mother Ganga. The belief is that during the aarti, the lamps acquire the power of the deity.

1830 hrs: Evening you will attend Yoga & Meditation session at hotel.

2130 hrs: Delicious & healthy Dinner at hotel.

Day 6 - Rishikesh

0530 hrs: Attend ‘The Healing Process’ or ‘Yoga Science’ you will learn 7 Chakras, 5 Yamas & 5 Niyamas of YOGA.

0900 hrs: Breakfast at hotel and relax.

1030 hrs: Visit Parmarth Ashram and attend spiritual program.

Parmarth Ashram is founded in 1942 by Swami Shukdevanand Saraswati. This ashram is open for all with no discrimination on the basis of race, gender, nationality, religion, caste or creed. This ashram is famous for its Hawan on the Ghat of Parmarth and Ganga Aarti that takes place daily in the morning and evening.

1230 hrs: Back to hotel and relax.

1330 hrs: Delicious & healthy Lunch at hotel.

1430 hrs: Visit local the Holy Temples in Rishikesh.

1830 hrs: Evening attend Yoga & Meditation session at hotel.

2130 hrs: Delicious & healthy Dinner at hotel.

Day 7 - Rishikesh - Haridwar (by road approx 1 hour) / Haridwar - Delhi (By road approx 5 hours)

0530 hrs: Attend ‘The Healing Process’ or ‘Yoga Science’ you will learn 7 Chakras, 5 Yamas & 5 Niyamas of YOGA along with ‘Magical Meditation Session’ at hotel.

0900 hrs: Breakfast at hotel and relax.

1200 hrs: You will depart by road to Haridwar.

1330 hrs: Delicious & healthy Lunch at hotel in Haridwar.

1430 hrs: Optional: Visit local market in Haridwar. Visit Aarti Ceremony at Har-Ki-Paudi Haridwar.

Continue drive to Rishikesh. Upon arrival you will check in at hotel close to Delhi International Airport.

2100 hrs: Delicious & healthy dinner at hotel.

Night stay in Delhi.

Day 8 - Delhi Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Delhi international airport to board the flight back home.
