Indian Embassy in Oaklands, Guatemala is the result of friendly and cordial India-Guatemala relations based on mutual respect and affection despite language and distance barriers. Diplomatic relations were established in the late Seventies. Embassy of India in Panama is concurrently accredited to Guatemala. The two countries have been cooperating at various multilateral issues and extending mutual support to each other's candidates for elections to the UN and other multilateral bodies. The Embassies of India and Guatemala signed an Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation and an Agreement for Cooperation on Cardamom Export. The main products which India exports to Guatemala are largely dominated by auto parts, tools, chemicals and pharmaceuticals and textiles. 36 Bajaj Three-wheelers were gifted to Guatemala which are being used by the Guatemalan Tourism Police. Guatemala is a country bursting with beautifully striking features, biodiversity and an indigenous culture with a powerful and vibrant identity.
